Puriya Dhanashri is a sandhi-prakash raga of the Purvi thaat, built on komal Rishabh, komal Dhaivat and tivra Madhyam. Its defining turn of phrase, 'N r G M' G', produces a reflective, twilight gravity and demands precise intonation of the flat second against the sharp fourth.
